Ohakune

About Alpine Park

Three mates who love Ohakune, skiing and hiking decided to buy a holiday bach together to take advantage of the year round adventures to be had.

The property was purchased with the intention of creating great memories for our young families, spending summer afternoons together playing backyard cricket on the adjoining reserve with the BBQ sizzling or sitting in the newly installed spa pool after a long days skiing.

The building itself has a long history, it was originally the Waiouru train station until the train line moved to the West of Mount Ruapehu. It has been freshly painted, a new front deck has been installed with a new spa pool (being installed FEB 2021) and BBQ area. The rooms are quirky and not what you would expect in a normal residential house, given that it used to be a train station.

The property (pictured) can be booked by anyone to be used when not being used by the owners, the large unused land that is along side the building had already begun development 10+ years ago until the GFC halted proceedings. With the plans already in place and using local companies with local knowledge to carry out the work, development has begun again, giving others the opportunity to take advantage of this wonderful land and superb surroundings such as Mount Ruapehu and the great walks & mountain biking trails.

Ohakune is a growing place, new businesses are opening up and there are amazing hospitality options just around the corner. Ohakune has a fantastic community spirit, it’s a small place with a big heart.

We hope you enjoy this area and the adventure it brings as much as we do.
